Social Media Campaign

Social Media Research

More Social Media Work Can Be Found On This Link

For this project we had to create a social media campaign that would last for 6 weeks. For this project I will be creating social media platforms to promote and advertise my online portfolio. By doing this it will generate more interest and help me promote my brand as well as the content and work that I produce. For this project I will need to research the different social media platforms and the ones which are more suitable for my online portfolio. I will need to understand how search engine optimization works and the importance of hash tags and how it can generate more interest.

The two social media platforms that I will be using to promote my portfolio are Instagram and LinkedIn. I believe that these social media platforms will help build my online portfolio and interest. Instagram will allow me to upload progress to my story as well as videos of the file product. I will also be able to post progress of my work on Instagram and hope to receive likes and interest from my work. I will also need to link my portfolio on my Instagram account so that it can gain more interest. Despite Instagram having a fall of interest other the years it’s still a very popular social media site that gains a lot of interest. Instagram is aimed at a younger demographic compared to LinkedIn. This is why I have decided to use two social media platforms. My target audience who people from the age range of 20 – 35 years old that are around the middle class demographic. This allows me to target different demographic groups that will help me gain interest for my online portfolio. LinkedIn is a social media platform that I have not used before. However, its more suitable for business that are looking for job chances. LinkedIn will allow me to present my work in a more professional way.

I decided to do two different Facebook stories at different times and then compare how much interest they received in a pacific time set. The first post that I decided to do is a University of Winchester image collection. I decided to do this story as I knew that it would get interest from people that are in the local area. I posted this at 11:00am to see how much people view stories in the morning. In 5 hours the post received 30 views. The results for both of these are taken from a 5 hour time frame. The second image was posted at 6:00pm and received 14 views. This is half the results that the first post got early in the morning. Search Engine Optimization is a range of strategies which aims to move your website to the top so that it receives more searches. The higher up you are on the page the more interest you are going to get. This is because most people look on the first page of results as they are the most useful to your search. The more pages you click through the less popular that search is going to be for you. This is because the most relevant information is at the top of the page. Copyright and Infringement and misuse of trademarks: When posting information online it’s important that I don’t use other people’s logos, images and videos as they are copyright protected. If I did copy other people’s ideas then I would be fined.

my plan

The risks and issues of posting online

There are many risks which I need to consider when posting information online. From the images above it shows the risks which I need to consider when posting and how I should reply to completes which I receive. Using the information above I have learnt that I need to reply to peoples comments and questions in a friendly way. I will do this by creating them with the word “Hi” so that the customer understands that they are being greeted by a friendly person. It’s also important to respond quickly when posting information on social media. This is because the customer wants to get a response as quickly as possible. This means when I post information on Twitter I will need a group of people who are constantly checking for any question and comments. I will also need to respond by giving the person websites and useful tips and information.

Demographic Research on risks and issues on social media: It’s very important to responded to peoples comments and understand the importance of doing so. 51% agree that if a brand is not present or not active with social media it would reflect negatively on the company. This means when I set up on the social media platforms I need to make sure that I am responding to peoples comments. This is because if I don’t it will have a bad influence on the company and will reduce the amount of customers. When setting up a Social Media it’s important that the company has a Social Media strategy on how to deal with comments and questions. 60% of companies have a social media strategy. For the company which I am advertising on social media it’s very important that I have a Social Media strategy as its will help me plan when I post information and respond to comments in a effective way. The percentage is only more than half which means some companies don’t have a Social Media Strategy and are not benefiting from it. This is because it allows the company to plan what they need to produce by meeting deadlines and having a clear structure of what they need to achieve.

St Vincent Caribbean Project

For this project the client wanted use to produce an interactive map that allows people to see information about the three island in the Caribbean clearly. The website would be created on WordPress allowing the client to change and upload more information as time goes on. It also needed to include a transition that allows the user to see how the islands have changed over time or buttons that allows the user to change between the two maps. The smallest island Baliceaux has very little information and roads on. The largest island is called St Vincent and the Grenadines which has a lot more people and places. It also has an active volcano on it. The island to the left of it is called Port Elizabeth which is smaller than the main island. The population of St Vincent and the Grenadines is 102,350 people. The currency that they use is the Dollar.

Research on Baliceaux Island. The island holds a special resonance in the history of their ancestors. This is known to the St Vincent's white colonists as the Black Carbis. The name reflects their origin as a mixture of shipwrecked and runaway slaves and the inhabitants of the island. They use to fish coastal waters in canoes and in large pirogues fashioned from a single tree and capable of carrying twenty men or more. They would sail up and down the island chain. This would happen particularly to Martinique and other French controlled territories, where they trade tobacco for rum, weapons and wine. The British used armed slaves, them employed a scorched-earth policy to starve the Black Caribs into submission. Over six mouths more than 4,600 people were taken captive and were shipped to the island called Baliceaux.

Research on Bequia Island. The Bequia Island has a size of seven square miles and a population of over 5,000 people. There are not many all-inclusive hotels to hole up in and most holiday people get around in taxis. Just along from Port Elizabeth there’s Princess Margaret Breach. It is a glorious 500 yard stretch of golden sand which looks remarkably and has a single bar. Across the island there is a sleepy Friendship Bay, a long sublime arc of sand that runs from a gaggle of fishing boats to the defunct hotel. There is also a wilder but reef protected Industry Bay which is backed by soaring palms.

Research on the St Vincent Island. Located south of St Vincent are the magical Grenadine islands. It is a prime destination for yachties. However, the sailing is more demanding than in the British Virgin Islands. Located close to the island Canouan there is a very luxurious hotel that is called Pink Sands Club. It was opened in 2016 autumn time. There are several private islands that have a single hotel. For example the Petit St Vincent, Palm Islands and Young Island. The name Saint Vincent is originally applied to the mainland and the group of smaller islands associated with it. In 1979 there was an attainment of independence for the multi-island state that was renamed Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. The capital of the island is called Kingstown and it’s also the major port of the island. The country is a member of the Commonwealth.

West Hill Cemetery (Client Project)

West Hill Cemetery Project

Brand Guidlines

The West Hill Cemetery brief is about the West Hill Cemetery in Winchester and the two cemeteries. The way in which the brief wants the two cemeteries to be created is in AR and it needs to be accessible on the website. In this brief I need to design an update map that people can access on the website. I have research different maps of Winchester to see the progression that the West Hill Cemetery has made and any massive changes that I need to be aware of. The oldest Cemetery in the world is located in Germany and is over 8,500 years old. A cemetery or graveyard is a place where people remember the lives that are lost. The remains of dead people are buried or otherwise interred. The word cemetery means that the land is specifically designated as a burial ground and originally applied to the Roman catacombs. It’s also an area set apart for or containing graves, tombs, or funeral urns. There are over 12,000 tombstones in the cemetery, but there are suggestions that there are about 100,000 individuals buried beneath them.

The Winchester Cemetery was established by Act of Parliament in 1840. The cemetery comprises of 13 acres of land. The perimeter wall with its elegant pillars and railings and wrought iron gates are listed as Grade II. The Gate Lodge and chapels were designed in Tudor-Gothic style. However both of the chapels were demolished in the 1920s. Between its establishment in 1840 and the beginning of WWI, during which the population of Winchester increased by X3, the cemetery then became the city's main burial place. However, other smaller cemeteries existed, most people choose to be interred at West Hill. In 1958 the Winchester City Council took over the management of the cemetery, which had become neglected. The site is now closed for burials and managed as a space where chalk downland meadow is allowed to return each summer and flourish as a valuable habitat for insects and butterflies. The path that goes through the centre allows great access to the University and to the city centre.

As a group we all attend the West Cemetery Exhibition located in the library in Winchester. We were able to find out information about the two chapels as well as famous people that passed away at the Cemetery. This was a great opportunity to expand our understanding of the West Hill Cemetery and use the information that we found for this project. Not only was there information about the two chapels, historic memories there was also a graph displaying the number of deaths and a full list of people that had passed away at the Cemetery. As a group we all visited the West Hill Cemetery and did some research on the area to try and get a clearer understanding of where the chapels might be. We also had a look around to see if there were any historic items that we there from the old pictures to give us more information on where the two chapels were all those years ago. We could then this research for the AR experience and include the two chapels. We use old graveyards to try and work out where the chapels were originally. For the creation of this app it includes two pages that tells the user some information about the West Hill Cemetery. The second page allows the user to access the interactive map and find where the two chapels would have been. The main purpose of the app is to allow the user to see the two interactive chapels. The use is able to do this by clicking the explore button which will allow them to access the second page.

RSA Project (A platform for joy)

It’s very clear from the brief that they want to unlock joy for people at train stations. It’s important that I focus on the environmental problems of crowds, waiting, delays and unexpected changes. This list is important as it explains aspect that I can focus on. For example, shelter, seating and facilities. The proposal could be focused on the environmental factors and they are looking for standalone retail solutions. Train Stations have been around since 1830 and some still remain the same as when they first opened. With the massive improve in technology and architecture a lot of Train Stations need to be re planned to be more suitable for this generation. One of the ways in which I am going to make Train Stations more joyful is by adding a treasure hunt element to train stations. The way in which this works is it will be something to do if you are waiting for a train. The best part about this is the rewards are discount off for train tickets and passes. This would be linking an image that you scan on your phone. Another way that I’m going to make Train Stations more joyful is by designing small garden pods which will have an interactive screen explain everything you need to know about your journey. Another way that I’m going to make Train Stations more joyful is by making Train Stations more colourful and welcoming for everyone. This will hopefully provide more joy for people at train stations.

One of the ways in which I am going to make Train Stations more joyful is by adding an treasure hunt element to train stations. The way in which this works is it will be something to do if you are waiting for a train. The best part about this is the rewards are discount off for train tickets and passes which will expire once you have used it. The objects not only will provide a discount but also historic information about the object. For example, if you find a London Eye object it will tell you information about the London Eye. The other way that I am going to provide joy at a Train Station is by creating an environmental pod that will allow people to keep warm and cool depending on the weather conditions. The pod will also have plug sockets and most importantly and interactive screen that helps you plan your journey and where to go. Basically, there are hidden objects around the Train Station. Each of the objects has its own unique barcode that can only be user once by that user. Once they have scanner the barcode, they could get 20% off their next journey as an example. Depending on what item that have scanned it will also provide historic information about the object. For example, the image bellow is a Mini in with the London 2012 Olympic Games logo on the side. The user would then be able to find out information about the 2012 Olympic Games on their phone as well as get a discount.

This is what the treasure app would like. The app only has three sections that provide the information that they need. The Train Treasure app has a simple login screen which also allows you to reset your password if you forget. Once you have signed in a new menu screen appears. It allows you to select the Train Station you are at with a simple drop-down menu tab. Once you have selected the station it tells you the about of objects that you have collected from that station. When you have selected that you then press search. This comes up with your camera and lets you take a picture. It then comes up with information about the object that you have taken a picture of. It also includes the code of the discount and how much you will get off your next train journey. Brief 6 is a platform for joy and this the brief that I’m working for. The brief wants me to find solutions to how joy can be provided at train stations. The app that I have designed will allow users to find something to do when at the train stations and most importantly there is a reward for doing it. Once you have found the object you will receive a unique code of a discount that can be used on your next train journey. This not only makes your next journey cheaper, but it also encourages people to travel more and explore. At every train station there will be different objects that are related to the location. For example, London would teach you about the London 2012 Olympics with a short paragraph above the item that you have just scanned. This means that my app has an educational side to it as well as providing joy for the customers. If I were to market this app it would be free to download. However, the way in which I would make money would be for every discount that has been used I would get a profit from. This would mean I would still be making money from the app that I have created.
